How We Control Tool Steel Quality
Before any order ships, we verify that the material is the grade, condition, and quality you ordered, and back it with documents you can trace. This page shows exactly what we check and what evidence you receive.
We Confirm Grade and Composition First
One material may be ordered as AISI, DIN, JIS, GB, or a trade name. Before anything ships, we verify chemical composition and equivalent-grade alignment so the steel you receive is the grade you ordered.
What the composition tells us
- Carbon and chromium — hardness, carbide volume, and wear resistance
- Molybdenum, vanadium, tungsten — secondary hardening and hot performance
- Manganese and silicon — processing behavior and deoxidation
- Phosphorus and sulfur — cleanliness and processing stability
Chemical composition testing confirms the supplied grade before shipment.Every Batch Traceable to Its Certificate
Each order’s certificate connects the delivered bar, plate, or forging to its grade, heat number, and inspection records. Below is the actual verification sheet we issue per shipment.
Checked Against Your Order, Before It Leaves
Before release, we check the material on the points that matter most for machining and resale: delivered condition, internal soundness, surface, and size.
Delivered condition & hardness
We supply mainly in annealed or agreed condition, so the steel can be machined before final hardening. Delivered hardness is checked against the order when required.
- Consistency between delivered condition and order
- Clear notice when a material ships in a special condition
Hardness checking confirms the delivered condition matches the order.Internal soundness (UT) on request
For forged bars, plates, and large sections, ultrasonic testing confirms internal soundness before machining. The acceptance level is agreed before production, for example SEP 1921-82 D/d or E/e when specified.
- Suited to forged round bars, plates, and large sections
- Confirms internal soundness before high-load use
- Inspection level matched to the real application risk
UT ultrasonic testing checks internal soundness when specified.Surface, size & tolerance
Surface and size are confirmed against the order so you know exactly what you are receiving. For bulk export orders, typical tolerances are:
- Turned or peeled round bar — generally 0 / +1 mm
- Milled plate thickness — generally 0 / +1 mm
- Black surface material — machining allowance such as 0 / +5 mm
- Seams, laps, scabs, heavy scale, and obvious defects checked before shipment
Surface condition is prepared and checked to order requirements.
