Un rodillo de trabajo m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o reduce la fuerza de laminaci\u00f3n necesaria para reducir la banda, disminuye el consumo de energ\u00eda y reduce la deformaci\u00f3n lateral del material al pasar por el soporte. Esto es lo que hace que los laminadores de rodillos sean tan eficaces para laminar bandas y l\u00e1minas delgadas, duras o de alta resistencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La desventaja es mec\u00e1nica. Un rodillo delgado sometido a una carga pesada tiende a doblarse. Sin soporte, esa deflexi\u00f3n arruinar\u00eda el control de calibre y, con el tiempo, agrietar\u00eda el propio rodillo. Los dise\u00f1os de laminadores en racimo solucionan este problema al alojar el rodillo de trabajo dentro de una pila completa de rodillos intermedios, que a su vez transfieren la carga de laminaci\u00f3n hacia afuera, a grandes rodillos de apoyo y a una carcasa r\u00edgida. El rodillo de trabajo nunca tiene que resistir la flexi\u00f3n por s\u00ed mismo. rodadura.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El laminado en fr\u00edo ejerce una presi\u00f3n superficial extrema sobre el rodillo cada vez que la tira pasa por el espacio entre las lamas. El rodillo debe mantener la precisi\u00f3n dimensional durante largos ciclos de producci\u00f3n, a la vez que resiste el desgaste abrasivo de la superficie de la tira. Por ello, el acero requiere una alta resistencia a la compresi\u00f3n y una microestructura dura y estable, en lugar de una tenacidad bruta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El material D2 est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado precisamente para esa combinaci\u00f3n. Su composici\u00f3n es aproximadamente de 1,51 TP3T de carbono y de 11,5 a 12,01 TP3T de cromo, con peque\u00f1as adiciones de molibdeno y vanadio. Esta qu\u00edmica produce una densa capa de carburos M7C3 gruesos y ricos en cromo, incrustados en una matriz martens\u00edtica templada. Los carburos son los que confieren al D2 su resistencia al desgaste: son lo suficientemente duros como para resistir el contacto abrasivo constante entre el rodillo y la banda, ciclo tras ciclo, sin da\u00f1ar la superficie del rodillo. La matriz templada que los rodea soporta la carga de compresi\u00f3n y mantiene la estabilidad dimensional del rodillo bajo presi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por eso, el acero D2 se clasifica como acero de endurecimiento al aire. Alcanza su m\u00e1xima dureza en todo su espesor mediante un temple al aire, en lugar de un temple en aceite o agua, lo que minimiza la deformaci\u00f3n durante el tratamiento t\u00e9rmico. Para un rodillo rectificado con precisi\u00f3n y con una secci\u00f3n transversal de 75 mm, esta estabilidad dimensional durante el endurecimiento no es un detalle menor. Es lo que garantiza que el rodillo terminado sea redondo, recto y cumpla con las tolerancias antes de entrar en la laminadora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-sizing-and-hardness-in-practice\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dimensionamiento y dureza en la pr\u00e1ctica<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El acero D2 abarca un amplio rango de trabajo en aplicaciones de laminaci\u00f3n en racimo, desde aproximadamente 6,4 mm hasta 300 mm de di\u00e1metro, lo suficientemente amplio como para servir tanto a los rodillos de trabajo delgados como a los rodillos intermedios algo m\u00e1s grandes en el mismo soporte. Los objetivos de tratamiento t\u00e9rmico difieren ligeramente entre los dos tipos de rodillos. Los rodillos de trabajo suelen endurecerse a 58-64 HRC, ya que soportan la carga de compresi\u00f3n directa contra la banda. Los rodillos intermedios y de accionamiento, que experimentan mayor fatiga por contacto durante su vida \u00fatil, suelen funcionar con una dureza ligeramente menor, en el rango de 58-62 HRC, para equilibrar la resistencia al desgaste con la vida \u00fatil a la fatiga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estas cifras no son arbitrarias. Reflejan un conocimiento pr\u00e1ctico de c\u00f3mo se comportan los aceros martens\u00edticos ricos en carburos bajo esfuerzos de contacto hertzianos repetidos, y ese conocimiento es lo que diferencia una pieza laminada que cumple con las especificaciones de una que se astilla o se descascara prematuramente durante su uso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-why-brittleness-stops-being-a-limitation-here\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Por qu\u00e9 la fragilidad deja de ser una limitaci\u00f3n aqu\u00ed.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La principal debilidad del acero D2 es su tenacidad. Su alto contenido en carburos, que le confiere resistencia al desgaste, tambi\u00e9n lo vuelve fr\u00e1gil en los bordes. Por ello, el D2 rara vez se utiliza como rodillo s\u00f3lido en trenes de laminaci\u00f3n convencionales, donde el cuerpo del rodillo debe resistir la flexi\u00f3n y la tensi\u00f3n a lo largo de toda su longitud. En un tren de laminaci\u00f3n de dos o cuatro rodillos, esa fragilidad representar\u00eda un grave inconveniente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La geometr\u00eda del laminador en racimo elimina el problema en lugar de buscar una soluci\u00f3n alternativa. Dado que los rodillos de apoyo absorben tanto la componente vertical como la horizontal de la fuerza de laminaci\u00f3n, el rodillo de trabajo nunca se somete a flexi\u00f3n. Se encuentra en compresi\u00f3n pura, totalmente soportado a lo largo de su longitud por el racimo de rodillos intermedios. Al eliminar casi por completo la tensi\u00f3n de flexi\u00f3n y tracci\u00f3n de la trayectoria de carga, la fragilidad del D2 deja de ser un riesgo de dise\u00f1o. Lo que permanece es la propiedad en la que el D2 siempre destac\u00f3: resistencia al desgaste y mantenimiento de la dureza bajo carga de compresi\u00f3n.
