Pertenece a la categor\u00eda de aceros estructurales de ultra alta resistencia y se valora por su gran templabilidad, alta tenacidad a alta resistencia y excelente comportamiento ante la fatiga. Sus aplicaciones t\u00edpicas incluyen trenes de aterrizaje de aeronaves, ejes y ejes de alta resistencia, engranajes, cig\u00fce\u00f1ales y otras piezas sometidas a altas tensiones en secciones gruesas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Es \u00fatil establecer expectativas desde el principio. El acero 4340 no es un acero para herramientas. Es un acero aleado estructural y no est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para la resistencia al desgaste ni la dureza en caliente requeridas para el troquelado y el corte. El SNCM439 es el que m\u00e1s se asemeja al AISI 4340 en cuanto a contenido de n\u00edquel. El GB 40CrNiMoA se sit\u00faa en el extremo inferior de la banda de n\u00edquel, entre el 1,25 y el 1,65 %, en comparaci\u00f3n con el 1,65 al 2,00 % del 4340, y el 817M40 contiene mayor cantidad de cromo. La combinaci\u00f3n de n\u00edquel, cromo y molibdeno es lo que confiere al acero 4340 su car\u00e1cter distintivo. El n\u00edquel aumenta la tenacidad, especialmente a bajas temperaturas, y, junto con el cromo y el molibdeno, favorece la templabilidad en las capas m\u00e1s profundas de la secci\u00f3n. El molibdeno tambi\u00e9n reduce la susceptibilidad a la fragilizaci\u00f3n por revenido y contribuye a que el acero mantenga su resistencia durante este proceso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-mechanical-properties-and-heat-treatment-response\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Propiedades mec\u00e1nicas y respuesta al tratamiento t\u00e9rmico<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El acero 4340 alcanza una resistencia muy alta sin perder su tenacidad, y ese equilibrio es su caracter\u00edstica principal. Las cifras que se muestran a continuaci\u00f3n representan rangos t\u00edpicos para un temple en aceite seguido de un revenido. El revenido sacrifica dureza y resistencia a cambio de tenacidad y ductilidad, por lo que el punto de trabajo se elige de acuerdo con la carga aplicada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-tempering-ranges-to-watch\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rangos de templado a tener en cuenta<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dos formas de fragilizaci\u00f3n son importantes al templar el acero 4340. El templado entre 230 \u00b0C y 370 \u00b0C puede causar fragilizaci\u00f3n de la martensita templada, lo que reduce la tenacidad al impacto, aunque la dureza se mantenga alta. Por otro lado, el enfriamiento lento entre 375 \u00b0C y 575 \u00b0C aproximadamente puede causar fragilizaci\u00f3n reversible por templado, debido a la segregaci\u00f3n de f\u00f3sforo en los l\u00edmites de grano de la austenita previa. Para piezas sometidas a cargas de impacto, los fabricantes suelen mantener el templado por debajo de 230 \u00b0C o por encima de 425 \u00b0C, y enfr\u00edan r\u00e1pidamente desde el rango de alta temperatura de templado. El molibdeno en el acero 4340 reduce esta sensibilidad, pero no la elimina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-hardenability-the-main-advantage\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Templabilidad: La principal ventaja<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La gran templabilidad es la raz\u00f3n por la que los ingenieros prefieren el acero 4340 a los aceros de aleaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s delgados. El sistema n\u00edquel-cromo-molibdeno permite que el 4340 se transforme en martensita en secciones gruesas durante el temple en aceite, de modo que un eje grande o un componente del tren de aterrizaje puede alcanzar una dureza casi uniforme desde la superficie hasta el n\u00facleo. Los aceros m\u00e1s delgados, como el 4140, se endurecen bien en barras m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as, pero tienden a ablandarse en el centro de secciones gruesas, dejando un n\u00facleo m\u00e1s blando y d\u00e9bil. Cuando se requieren todas las propiedades en secciones de m\u00e1s de 75-100 mm aproximadamente, el 4340 suele ser la opci\u00f3n m\u00e1s pr\u00e1ctica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-4340-vs-4140\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">4340 vs 4140<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/aobosteel.com\/es\/blog\/4140-steel-properties\/\">4140<\/a> Los aceros 4140 y 4340 comparten la base de cromo-molibdeno. La diferencia radica en el n\u00edquel. Para secciones m\u00e1s ligeras con resistencia moderada, el 4140 suele ser la opci\u00f3n m\u00e1s econ\u00f3mica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-4340-vs-tool-steel\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acero 4340 frente a acero para herramientas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esta es la distinci\u00f3n que atrae a muchos compradores a esta p\u00e1gina, por lo que conviene ser directos. El acero para herramientas gana cuando la pieza debe resistir el desgaste, mantener un filo de corte o permanecer dura a temperaturas elevadas. Un troquel de trabajo en fr\u00edo requiere <a href=\"https:\/\/aobosteel.com\/es\/d2-tool-steel\/\">D2<\/a> o <a href=\"https:\/\/aobosteel.com\/es\/a2-tool-steel\/\">A2<\/a>. Una matriz de trabajo en caliente o herramienta de extrusi\u00f3n requiere <a href=\"https:\/\/aobosteel.com\/es\/h13-tool-steel\/\">H13<\/a> o H11. El uso de 4340 en esas funciones produce desgaste y deformaci\u00f3n prematuros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-common-applications\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aplicaciones comunes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El acero 4340 se utiliza en trenes de aterrizaje y componentes estructurales de aeronaves, ejes de helic\u00f3pteros y sistemas de propulsi\u00f3n, ejes y \u00e1rboles de transmisi\u00f3n de alta resistencia, engranajes, cig\u00fce\u00f1ales, pernos de alta resistencia y ca\u00f1ones de armas.
