El D2 contiene mayor proporci\u00f3n de Mo y V que el Cr12MoV, por lo que ofrece un mejor rendimiento en resistencia al desgaste abrasivo, endurecimiento secundario y herramientas para trabajos en fr\u00edo de larga duraci\u00f3n. El vanadio ayuda a formar carburos duros y mejora la resistencia al desgaste. Durante el revenido a 500\u2013550 \u00b0C, el molibdeno y el vanadio promueven el endurecimiento secundario mediante la precipitaci\u00f3n de carburos finos.
